There’s no denying what kind of player you are. Some people tend to play loose poker, some play tight, and while good players tend to vary their play, most lean in one direction or another. There are positives and negatives to both styles of play, but it helps to be able to use both play styles to your advantage at the casino.

When you play passive opponents, it’s advantageous to adopt a more loose style of play. If you are at an online poker table of players who are hesitant to raise, then it can definitely pay off to take some bigger risks on hands that you would normally fold.

For instance, if you are in a middle position and are dealt a pocket pair of 5’s, in most cases you’d want to fold those because you may get raised by someone who acts after you. Pocket fives are very dependent on the flop-they aren’t any good unless you can pick up a set. It may be worth the blind to see the flop, but it’s not worth much more than that.

If you know that you’re at a passive table, it’s much more worth it to pay and see the flop, because you can bet with some certainty that no one will want to raise behind you.
