Searching for free traffic?
Many years ago I was excited to get my initial web site. Realization quickly dawned so the joy was short-lived: Nobody was most likely to buy from the website due to the fact nobody would see it. It was depressing.
False promises caused me to lose lots of cash as I explored each and every option. It comes down to the webmasters fundamental issue and there is no shortage of goods all promising you the answer… site visitors.
Traffic exchanges appeared to offer the answer. Free of charge to join, a traffic exchange will guarantee traffic to your web site. The traffic came so it could be argued that the traffic exchange was helpful. But the visitors had not come to buy, nor even out of interest for what I had to provide. Just as I was required to invest hours viewing others’ web sites in order to earn a reciprocal viewing on mine, so it was using the traffic I received. The visitors arriving at my website came with a single purpose – that of counting down the seconds until they could click away.
Though no-one seemed tempted by the gifts I provided on my web page (for a start, the reality that I was UK based possibly ruled out the majority) there was every single danger that I may be tempted by the hard sell I was finding elsewhere! If you use a traffic exchange, then this sends two clear messages: Firstly which you want traffic and secondly that you could properly need to have other web services (such as hosting, search engine optimization, link developing etc). I was a gullible target as many internet sites are geared at selling into that niche.
To avoid the hard sell, instead of surfing for credits, I could often pay for them or I even considered offering my son pocket cash to sit and click.
Then I realised how ridiculous it was!
I could not waste my time, but was now thinking about wasting someone else’s time instead. In terms of human resources it seems criminally wasteful (and needless to say it still didn’t resolve the fact that the excellent of the traffic I was receiving was rather hopeless).
Why do traffic exchanges continue? An individual won’t be a willing buyer if they’re not viewing a internet site out of genuine interest.. Traffic exchanges will continue to offer hope to inexperienced webmasters – but for quality traffic, the answer is elsewhere.
