AIDS – the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is basically a set of symptoms caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Although there is still no cure for the condition, yet still the treatment involves the management to slow down the rate of progression of the virus. AIDS gets spread when the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is transmitted directly or the indirectly through the infected blood or any other body fluid such as semen, vaginal fluid, breast milk, mucous preseminal fluid and etc.
Believed to have originated in the sub Saharan region of Africa during the 20th century, AIDS have today taken pandemic shape grasping the world within its dreadful gripped. Since, no vaccine has yet been invented the only mode to prevent the disease is to steer clear of the exposure to the virus. If in any case the subject fails to avoid exposure to the virus, Post-Exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is the only mode to lower down the progression rate of the virus. PEP is the prophylactic treatment (Ziagen)mode that is started immediately after the virus has been transmitted. It has also certain side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, malaise and weakness.
