Cooking chicken can be done in healthy ways and baking is a better method of cooking your chicken compared to frying it.

Although a number of people would prefer to fry their chicken since doing so makes it yield more flavor, moisture, and crispness, the practice is not good for one’s health. Frying is a process that involves the use of fattening substances like butter, eggs, and cooking oil. These ingredients contain high levels of trans fats which are not health-friendly, as they raise levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) and decrease good cholesterol (HDL) levels. Frequent eating of chicken packed with trans fats increases the risk of developing heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. The chicken itself already contains fatty tissues and frying it means that even more unwanted fat would be absorbed by the chicken.

Additionally, a study published by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers show that deep-frying chicken decreases the bulk density of the meat, shrinking its volume and increasing its porosity, thereby allowing more fat to be absorbed.

On the other hand, baking is the process of cooking in dry heat without the need for oils, which makes it an effective way of doing away with fat.
