The U830 is a little bit uninspiring compared to other products made by LG. The U830 is an entry level phone and, compared to some of the more successful mobile handsets at this price it is fairly well featured. The styling of this mobile phone is not quite as good as we would expect from LG.

The LG U830 is compatible with 2G GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 and 3G UMTS 2100. A 2 MP, 1600×1200 pixels, video, flash; secondary video call VGA camera is integrated into the U830 camera. A WAP 2.0/xHTML compatible browser is also included. Moving on to the display the mobile handset is fitted with a 2.2 inch screen, which is an average display for the cost of this phone. The display type on this phone is a TFT, 256K colors. Colour wise the LG U830 only comes in Black. Weighing in at 93 g this mobile handset is pretty light. Compared to other models, the U830 is one of the most compact handsets available. The available ring-tones enabled on the U830 are Polyphonic (64 channels), MP3 plus a vibrating tone. Regarding battery cell life the LG U830 has 2:00 talk time and 180 hours reserve time. The LG U830 is supplied with a Li-Ion battery cell. This mobile phone is bluetooth enabled for compatibility with the majority of accessories. This mobile handset as a number of extras like:

  • Image editor
  • Organiser
  • Voice memo
  • Java MIDP 2.0
  • Built-in handsfree
  • Streaming TV, video telephony
  • MP3/AAC/AAC+ player
  • This is now quite an old phone, but still does a great job. If you see one, being cleared as old stock it is possible to get a fabulous bargain. If you are after a fantastic buy, order online where there are loads of great bargains to consider. Shopping online can deliver some significant cost savings, believe it or not, it is possible to get a LG U830 with 12 months free by redemption , which will not cost anything to run.

For the beginner, investing of any sort is nothing short of worrisome. It is just hard to get the answers to whether or not an investment will thrive or fall. That is due to the fact that there is just no sure way to know what will do well and what won’t. It’s all about the risk. For many people, though, they do not have a lot to invest and what they do have, they do not want to lose. There are other types of investing though that are safer and more dependable.

Of course, for anyone who is looking to invest a large amount of money, it is wise to consult a financial advisor. It just makes sense to get the professional point of view when dealing with large sums of money. To find a trusted one, skip the TV commercials and talk to your friends are relatives. First hand knowledge is much more dependable than those ads you’ll see. If you do not know anyone, interview several to find the best relationship possible. Rules of thumb here though, if they promise to make you a millionaire, run. No quality financial investor can guarantee any outcome of stocks or such.

As for the lower risk investing, there are a couple key points to make. First of all, before you can choose one type over another, realize how easily you need the money to be available. For many people, a basic savings account through a bank or a credit union will be a good place to put money that is needed readily. If you do not need instant access to your money, then look towards more long term investments. A great way to get a good rate and a safe return is through CD’s. These are offered in various amounts with various interest rates. It is wise to look around for the best rates on these though as they can fluctuate.

You can also look into federal savings bonds as a way to safely invest your money. The rate of return is fair while the security is high. Different denominations can be purchased and, if needed, you can turn them in for cash back. Sometimes you will get none of the interest for an early savings bond. Other times, you’ll get partial.

5 Ways to Block Pop Ups…

Advertisers are constantly looking for any way to draw attention to their products. Although typical banner ads are still used heavily, they now seem to be almost invisible to the average web surfer. Pop ups and other intrusive types of advertising are now used to thrust an ad in your face that you have no choice but to at least acknowledge. Regardless of the nature of the ad, pop ups are a nuisance, and there are now many options available for keeping them off of your computer screen all together.

    1. Internet Explorer on Windows XP with Service Pack 2
This summer’s release of Service Pack 2 for Windows XP brought about a few significant changes to the operating system. One of the most noticeable was the addition of a pop up blocker to Internet Explorer.

The pop up blocker is integrated into the browser and can be customized by browsing to the “Tools” tab at the top of the program. Like many pop up blocker applications, personal preferences can be set to allow/block pop ups from certain sites, as well as providing customization for how the user is alerted to the fact that a pop up has been blocked.

For those using Windows XP, upgrading to Service Pack 2 is an excellent idea for your system’s security as a whole, but specifically for the additional convenience of an integrated pop up blocker. For those with a Microsoft operating system other than XP, sorry, this is not available for you.

    2. Alternative Web Browsers

There are other choices for web browsers available, and many have included a pop up blocker long before Microsoft decided to include one with Internet Explorer.

The Mozilla Firefox browser version 1.0 was officially released on November 9th. This browser has already received a great deal of acclaim and has become quite popular as an alternative to Internet Explorer.
Firefox is a highly customizable web browsing application that includes an effective pop up blocker, tabbed browsing, and many other features not found in Internet Explorer.

Crazy Browser is another option that was released in 2002, which is not as much an alternative browser, as it is a skin for Internet Explorer. In order for Crazy Browser to run, a system must have Internet Explorer 5 (or greater) installed, as well as Windows 95 (or greater) installed as the operating system. The Crazy Browser application then takes the base functionality of Internet Explorer and adds features similar to Firefox, such as the pop up blocker and tabbed browsing.

    3. Browser Tool Bars

A growing trend is for websites to offer a downloadable toolbar for use with Internet Explorer. Many of these toolbars offer unique features intended to enhance the user’s web browsing experience in different ways, but they generally also include a pop up blocker. Although there are toolbars available from dozens of websites, Google, MSN, and Yahoo are some of the more reputable names with one available.

The installation of these toolbars is quick and easy, and the most difficult part may be reading the fine print in the license agreements.

Although these toolbars may do an excellent job blocking pop ups, they may also be retrieving data on your web surfing / search habits. If you feel a toolbar may be the right solution for you, stick with one from a trusted name, and just be sure to read the fine print.

    4. Pop Up Blocker Software

Stand alone pop up blocking software is available from dozens, if not hundreds, of different sources. With various interfaces, and prices ranging from free to $30 (and higher), choosing one can be a difficult task. Many of the programs that are not available for free do come with a free trial download, so you can at least get a sense of whether the program is right for you before committing. Some of the options in this category include STOPzilla, Secure IE, Zero Popup and Pop Swatter, to name a few.

The main drawback to this type of pop up blocking solution is that you now have another independent application running on your computer. Although they
are generally not resource intensive, why run a program
to do something that can be handled by one that is already running anyway? Additionally, with so many reliable solutions available to eliminate pop ups for free,
spending money on one is hard to justify.

Along with a dedicated pop up blocker, another recommended tact for eliminating pop-ups is eliminating spyware on your computer system. Some pop-up programs use accompanying spyware to target pop ups specifically to you and your web surfing habits. An excellent, free program for eliminating spyware of all type is Spybot Search & Destroy.

    5. Internet Access Software from Select ISPs

Some ISPs (Internet Service Providers) now incorporate a pop up blocker with the software they provide to subscribers for accessing the internet. Earthlink, Optimum Online, and AOL are just a few of the larger providers that add value to their packages by adding a pop up blocker. Bundling this functionality with the ISPs base software definitely makes things easy for the subscriber, as there may be no need to find one elsewhere.

In general, these blockers are effective, but are not the most feature rich and may have limited options for customization by the end user. One draw back with ISP provided pop up blockers is that some only work with their service. So, if you ever switch to a new provider, you’ll need to be prepared to switch to a new pop up blocker
    as well.

    Final Words

Pop ups are a fact of life on the internet, but that does not mean you need to put up with them. Among the five general solutions presented above, there are literally hundreds of options available for eliminating the clutter of pop up ads, allowing you
to enjoy only the content you intended to see.

Somewhere during the course of living, humans decided to put a price on their lives. And then they demanded quick satisfaction, instead of the slow, healthier process. Speed and recklessness can be a fatal combination and when it comes to losing weight, a lot of people bypass the safe method, for the fast and more dangerous method. It’s a basic fact that the best way to lose weight is through a change in lifestyle, which will include watching your diet and daily exercise. Of course, this can be slow, tedious and boring, but it’s safe and has proved to work.

But people live in a fast-paced world and they want instant results. The weight loss industry seems to release at least one wonder pill a year. People appear to be gaining weight at an alarming rate, especially in the US, so the public is more than ready to try any new weight loss drug. The major problem with these drugs is that they normally don’t live up to their marketing hype and they all have side-effects. But drugs aren’t the only things people will try to reduce their weight, they will also experiment with different medical procedures and one such procedure is liposuction.

Liposuction, is a way to remove fat from the body, using a form of suction. During a normal liposuction procedure, small, thin, tubes are inserted into tiny incisions in the skin. The doctor will guide the tubes under the skin while the fat is being suctioned out. The most common areas that liposuction is used on are the thighs, buttocks, arms, neck and abdomen. Liposuction is usually done as an outpatient procedure as it doesn’t require hospitalization, unless a large amount of fat is being removed.

Before the creation of liposuction, the surgical knife was used to help remove fat. A lot of blood was lost during the surgical knife procedure. Liposuction was first done in 1974, in Italy. US physicians started to experiment with liposuction in the 1980s and in 1985, two US dermatologists created the tumescent technique, which made liposuction more safe and effective by removing the need for general anesthesia. Ultrasound was added to the liposuction procedure during the 1990s. The ultrasound liquefied the fat, which helped the tubes move more smoothly under the skin. Then came the Vaser System, which refined the use of ultrasound, created less trauma to the body and allowed the treated areas to be framed better.

Liposuction has been made safer over the years, but it’s still surgery and any form of surgery is potentially risky. Although liposuction doesn’t bill itself as a weight loss alternative, the removal of fat equates to the removal of weight. The danger with any new successful medical creation is that the public might abuse it. Liposuction is one of the most performed surgeries in the US. It’s not abnormal for people to be concerned about their weight, but the extremes they’re willing to put their bodies through can be very unhealthy. Liposuction may be safer, but there’s nothing normal about it.

Need some new fundraising ideas? When your organization or group needs to raise money for a trip or project, there is nothing wrong with another bake sale. Do something a little different, though, and you may get more volunteers for the event. You might also get more media exposure, meaning more people will participate, which means more money raised. Why not try one of the following ideas.

Mobile rummage sale. Having a rummage sale is a common fundraising idea, but how about a mobile rummage sale? It requires collecting donations of things to sell, and the cooperation of someone with a pick up truck. Sort the things as neatly as possible in the back of the truck, then go door-to-door, explaining to the residents that you are raising money for your cause, and asking them to take a look at your sale. Maybe they’ll also want to donate things to sell. Take the sale to the beach or other busy places too.

Dog wash. A car wash is one of the most common fundraising ideas out there, but a dog wash is less common. Find a place where many people walk their dogs. A brush, dog shampoo, and a source of water are all you need. You could also sell dog toys, dog snacks and other pet-related things for even more profit.

Business clean-up. Many businesses need to have the area around them cleaned up. Restaurants might have trash around the edges of their parking lots, some businesses may need their signs washed, and others could need their sidewalks and lots swept. A crew of young people could clean up a property in an hour for a set fee, and the business could write off the contribution on their taxes.

Online donor recognition. When you collect donations for a project or regular event, you can promise donors that they’ll be recognized on your group’s official website. They get a bit of internet immortality as one of the people that made your event, trip or project possible. It is common that donors get their names put on a plaque, but the website is accessible to all their friends anywhere in the world, so they can show them how they helped.

Treasure hunt. This could be a big event, even an annual one if your organization needs a regular fundraising event. The basic idea: Rope off an area of a beach, bury silver bars and coins in the sand, and let people hunt for them for an entry fee. Let’s say you bury 4 quarter-ounce gold coins, 20 one-ounce silver bars, 1000 various foreign coins (some coin shops sell these for ten cents each), 500 dimes and 2000 pennies.

At today’s prices it would cost you about $1,000, which you might first raise through donations. With 3524 coins, almost everyone would find something. 300 people paying $10 each would net your group $2,000, plus you could sell hotdogs and drinks during the event.

Except for the last one, these are all relatively cheap events to plan. Tell the papers about your plans, of course. The more unusual fundraising ideas are more likely to get some free press coverage.

Microsoft Great Plains, Navision, Solomon and Axapta are Microsoft Business Solutions ERP applications, serving to the whole spectrum of vertical and horizontal markets. Assuming that you already have one of these systems installed and implemented we would like to give you – IT director, Database Administrator, Programmer, Software Developer, Controller your options in supporting/upgrading Microsoft Great Plains for your company

It is always good idea to install everything on your own – however Great Plains requires combination of computer networking, some programming, good accounting/distribution/logistics/reporting background – so it is not a surprise that Microsoft Business Solutions requires their customers to have specially assigner Microsoft Great Plains Partner/VAR/Reseller to serve the account.

First Scenario. Due to the recession your former MBS partner went out of business, leaving you without support and you lapsed in payment annual enhancement fee. This is very common scenario – in fact Microsoft Business Solutions introduced direct quoting to the companies like yours – just to insure that you have an option to pay this required maintenance fee. In this situation – you can not get new version/migration tool, etc. until you get your company reinstated in MBS enhancement program. What you need to do is these:

    1. Find reasonably inexpensive MBS partner and switch to it as your MBS VAR – it is very easy to change your VAR – you compose the letter stating that you would like to switch to company ABC as your MBS VAR, sign it and fax to your new VAR.

    2. MBS Promotions – Microsoft has promotion programs for orphans like your company to be re-enrolled into annual enhancement program, usually with small additional charge, for example in October 2004 you could get your reinstatement for 20% of the software list price (normal price is 16%)

Second Scenario. You need to migrate from Pervasive SQL/ctree to Microsoft SQL Server/MSDE. It is known fact that Microsoft decided to breach contract with Pervasive Software and stop supporting Microsoft Great Plains 7.5 and earlier versions on Pervasive SQL 2000. You need to migrate to MS SQL Server ASAP – or you will be out of support

    1. As in the first scenario – select your MBS partner or ask you old partner to give you the quote on Migration tool (k$1.5-k$2)

    2. Migrate on your own – or send your data to migration specialist – your partner may provide these services – normal price is 8 hours of consulting fee

Third Scenario. You have bunch of Great Plains Dexterity, VBA, SQL customizations and need upgrade and your former GP reseller is not providing customization upgrade services (due to the fact that all developers were laid off several years ago)

    1. Locate customization partner. Usually you have to find small nation-wide VAR, who serves you via remote support. Switch to this partner

    2. Ask for customization analysis – most of the old customization pieces should be migrated to new technologies, like Dexterity to SQL and Crystal Reports, web publishing, eConnect, etc. Don’t pay for upgrade “as is” – you will lock yourself with the problems

Also couple of hints about how do you switch the partner. It is actually more easy than you may think – you just send to your new proposed partner the letter in free format saying that you would like to switch to you as my Microsoft Business Solutions partner – and this is it.

Nearly a year ago, I had started a business blog about a fictitious “paper” startup company and named it BusinessWorks Inc – A Dotcom in making. In this blog, I wrote articles about brainstorming, technology (RFID in particular), created a complete business plan, tips about Venture Capitalists, Vendor evaluation and many other entrepreneur related articles.

There is a real company by the name of Businesswoks Inc, which is in business since 1992. Out of curiosity, I searched for “Businessworks Inc” on Google to find my business blog listed first on search results to my surprise. First page of search results showed four out of 10 results related to my blog! This intrigued me and I conducted same search on MSN, Yahoo, Alta Vista, Ask Jeeves and AOL.

With the exception of Yahoo and Alta Vista (where my blog is listed at number 2 position), all other search engines, including Google (one that has 53.2% of Search Engine market share) listed my blog on the top of its search results!

This example proves, writing a business blog can be very beneficial for the small businesses, especially if it is written by a professional blogger. Imagine a situation where your product or service comes up in the search results well above the competitor, what it can do for your business. Appearing on first page of search engine results is considered very important for the product. Companies pay large amount of money for search engine optimization (SEO), and for paid insertions based on keywords. What if your company can achieve same results by having a business blog at a fraction of cost? Will you go for it?

A Business blog outsourcing company can help you achieve the dream results of appearing on the first page of search engine results based on various keywords and fresh content found in the business blog written by them for you.
